Moving Tips and Tricks
Whether you’re relocating across town or downsizing a family home, a smooth move starts with the right prep. Here are our tried-and-true tips from years on the job
-
Heavy stuff (like books) in small boxes. Lighter stuff (like bedding) in big boxes.
Don’t overfill — if the top won’t close, it’s too full.
Label boxes with the room name so we know exactly where to take them.
-
Make sure driveways, hallways, and stairs are free of snow, leaves, or clutter.
Keep pets and little ones in a safe spot so nobody trips.
-
Set aside essentials: toothbrushes, chargers, a change of clothes, medications, coffee supplies.
Bring these with you, not in the truck.
-
Empty dresser tops, nightstands, and desks so we can wrap them quickly.
Unplug, empty, and defrost your fridge 24 hours before move day.
If you are disassembling your furniture, tape the hardware bag directly to the piece.
-
Let us know what’s fragile, valuable, or has sentimental meaning.
Point out items that need extra care or special placement in the new space.
-
Have boxes sealed and ready before we arrive.
Keep a cooler of snacks and water handy — moving is hard work for everyone.
Plan parking if you’re in a tight neighborhood or complex.
-
You’ve already done the hardest part: deciding to move. Now it’s our turn to do what we do best.
